Network Organizations

Since launching the Brave New Voices Festival and a number of affiliated organizations in 1998, Youth Speaks has continued to foster a national Network of like-minded programs dedicated to developing and raising the voices of youth through the literary and performance arts. These organizations, and the youth they serve, represent the entire panorama: they come from big cities and border towns, from reservations and suburbs, the Northeast and Northwest, the Deep South, the mountains, the plains, the islands and the desert. They are, quite literally, a reflection of the voice of 21st Century America. By bringing young artists and arts educators together across geographical and cultural borders, the BNV Network continues to flourish and give history to a generation’s take on poetry and performance.

Within this Network, and as a significant component of our multi-year BNV Network Initiative, a number of diverse organizations have been selected from a pool of over 60 applicants to participate in our inaugural Leadership Cohort. Youth Speaks will support these organizations in their efforts toward organizational capacity-building, especially in the areas of leadership and programmatic development, marketing, fundraising, finance and operations. Organizations receive general operating cash and technical assistance support, including coaching from experienced nonprofit consultants and leaders. Lastly, eight Leadership Cohort organizations will receive staffing support through our Future Corps Fellows program in years two and three of their participation in this program. The Future Corps Fellows program has been designed to place BNV alumni from across the country in Leadership Cohort organizations to provide valuable boots on the ground support to help grow their host organization and the BNV Network movement, while building their own skills as emerging nonprofit leaders.
