Indy Pulse

Through spoken word poetry, we educate and support our youth as they cultivate their voice, which empowers them to craft meaningful life paths that promote positive change for themselves and their communities. During the school year, Indy Pulse youth engage in weekly meetings, bi-monthly slam competitions, bi-monthly online challenges, and workshops. Our common-core aligned, social justice youth development curriculum equips our students with critical literacy such that they can examine and navigate their experience in the context of a broadened worldview. Centered on our core values of reflection, advocacy, and inclusion we also prioritize integrating our students in the community through partnering with other organizations, e.g. the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Nopal Cultural Center, IUPUI Social Justice Scholars, and Latino Youth Collective.
