Youth Speaks funded organizations in our Brave New Voices Network around the United States to host poetry contests and events featuring local poets and writers talking about brutality and violence by law enforcement. The poems and the events will be profiled on this page. It is out hope that organizations hoping to join the campaign will host an event or activity and send us fliers, photos, video, or audio that we can post on this site as a repository of the latest activity with this campaign. The hashtag of this campaign is #iwanttolive
Producers of this campaign are also training poet-mentor facilitators from many different cities to host workshops and engage young men around the country on the topic. Ultimately, we hope to gather as many stories from young men of color from across the United States as testimony to expose the scope and scale of the institutional and environmental factors contributing to this ongoing, urgent crisis.
Racial Profiling should not end in silence. Tell your story.
