Jeán “JT” Teodoro
Jeán “JT” Teodoro is a community organizer, poet and hip-hop artist. He is a member of ALAY– a grassroots organization that aims to empower youth and young adults in the Excelsior District of San Francisco by addressing the most relevant and deep-rooted issues affecting their community. These issues include the lack of education and employment opportunities, as well as the rising cost of housing and affordability in the Bay Area. JT is a co-founding member of the hip-hop/rock band Boondock Squad. He was a member of SPOKES (2007-2008) and Future Corps (2012-2013). In 2008, he competed in Brave New Voices as part of Youth Speaks Team Oakland. He graduated from Dominican University of California with a BA in Humanities and Cultural Studies and a minor in Music; he was the commencement speaker of his graduating class. In 2015, he competed in the National Poetry Slam as part of the Oakland Poetry Slam. He has released several music projects, including “Flea Market of Freaks” in 2013. His latest work is a graphic poetry book titled “Verses of FREEDOM”, which is scheduled for release in 2018.
