Jeán “JT” Teodoro

JEÁN “JT” TEODORO – Jeán “JT” Teodoro is a community organizer, poet and hip-hop artist. They are a member of ALAY– a grassroots organization that aims to empower youth and young adults in the Excelsior District of San Francisco by addressing the most relevant and deep-rooted issues affecting their community. These issues include the lack of education and employment opportunities, as well as the rising cost of housing and basic needs in the Bay Area. JT is a co-founding member of the hip-hop/rock band Boondock Squad. They were a member of SPOKES (2007-2008) and Future Corps (2012-2013). In 2008, they competed in Brave New Voices as part of Youth Speaks Team Oakland. They graduated from Dominican University of California with a BA in Humanities and Cultural Studies and a minor in Music; they were the commencement speaker of their graduating class. In 2015, they competed in the National Poetry Slam as part of the Oakland Poetry Slam. They have released several music projects, including “Flea Market of Freaks” in 2013. Their latest work is a graphic poetry book titled “Verses of FREEDOM”, which is scheduled to release in 2018.
