Luke Tailor Sacramento, CA
“You know how when the last Yeezy album was released all you heard was how people wanted the College Dropout Kanye back? That’s not happening anytime soon but in the meantime there’s Luke Tailor and Textbook Money.”
-Sacramento News and Review
22 years old and already drawing comparisons to artists like Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Common, Luke Tailor is the current generation’s redefinition of poetic emcee.
First putting his name on the national map as a slam poet, Luke Tailor’s freshman rap release, Textbook Money sounds like Langston Hughes’ West Coast sneaker-head grandson enrolled into Howard University, won a few poetry slams, then decided to pledge the same fraternity as J Cole and Wale.
Already earning attention from artists like Talib Kweli and MC Supernatural, Tailor has appeared on stages all over the country including tour dates at UC Davis, Sacramento State University, Ace of Spades, the University of Chicago, and the South by Southwest music conference in Austin, Texas.
Textbook Money showcases Tailor’s meticulous flow, razor sharp wit, and depth as a writer addressing topics from relationships, rap fame, self-esteem, racism, and modern materialism while simultaneously providing undeniable talent and infectiously relatable concepts.
