Ways for Educators to Take Action

  1. Follow Us @BigPicCampaign on IG and Twitter.
  2. Share The Bigger Picture videos and posts with your communities.
  3. Make a meme with our meme generator and share it.
  4. Facilitate one (or all!) of the lesson plans for a group of young people or people in your community.
  5. Download the Toolkit for more information to use in your classes.
  6. Book The Bigger Picture School Assembly and The Bigger Picture presents Recess.
  7. Identify 1-2 youth leaders to lead a The Bigger Picture Project. See The Bigger Picture School Clubs Program Manual for more details.
  8. Be the faculty sponsor for a The Bigger Picture School Club. See The Bigger School Clubs Program Manual for more details.
  9. If you lead or work with an organization that fights for healthier food environments, partner with The Bigger Picture to multiply our impact together.
  10. Initiate a campaign on your campus, in your city, or in your community to combat type 2 diabetes and advocate for or build healthier environments.

  6. Collaborate with some of our partners like People’s Kitchen, Ecology Center, Hip Hop Green Dinner, and Open Truth to see how they are making direct impact in their communities.
  7. Petition your school to remove all vending machines with unhealthy food and drinks.
  8. Petition to get clean and safe parks in your neighborhood.
  9. Grocery shop with your family.
  10. Boycott companies that market unhealthy foods and drinks to young people.
  11. Demand healthy lunch & drinks & working water fountains at school.
  12. Organize your community to get healthy, affordable food in your neighborhood.
  13. Petition your school for more physical activity.
  14. Support policies that reduce soda/sugary drink consumption.
  15. Read labels – don’t be fooled by marketing!
  16. Write food and drink executives to stop targeting you.
  17. Spread the word!
