The Under-21 Open Mic, our monthly performance open-house for new young writers and performers, kicked off with a bang last Friday at an impressively packed 826 Valencia. Bringing together an electrifying mix of both familiar and brand new voices to Youth Speaks, The Under-21 Open Mic carves out a powerful and necessary space for Bay Area youth to exchange stories and inspire one another to speak.
The Under 21 Open Mic alternates between two locations; 826 Valencia in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District and Oaklandish just a few blocks away from 12th St. BART Station in downtown Oakland. Both of these vibrant and dynamic sites serve as ideal hosts for Bay Area youth to reclaim community space and get free on the mic — and in the crowd! Help us spread the word and grow the movement!
