Each year, 30 young people are invited to be part of Spokes, a youth advisory board and paid internship program (school-year stipend). Spokes members are the public face of Youth Speaks, conducting outreach to schools and at events; helping produce CDs, books, and websites; developing press materials; assisting in the workshop program; and acting as advisors to the Youth Speaks board and staff by meeting monthly to evaluate current programs and brainstorm new ones.

This design best utilizes youth development processes and practices, while fully incorporating Spokes members into the daily programming of Youth Speaks.
